I ended my field internship April 24! I am tired, but satisfied.
AND! I now have a job with the organization that I interned with. I am so very happy to have a place there!
This semester went by so quickly! I suppose they always do. It seems so long in the beginning, but by they end we are left wondering where all the time went. I have learned a good deal and I look forward to learning more in my job. I am very thankful to have such wonderful people to work with, from the administration to the residents, everyone is great.
I have just one class to complete my Spanish major that I will take in the fall and then I will graduate with two bachelor’s degrees. Then on to my Master’s in Social Work. After that, a clinical license. When I began this whole adventure, it felt like it would take forever! Now, with the first step being so near completion, I feel it flew by.
I must confess to some trepidation going forward, mostly because of the current administration in the White House and other world events. I wonder how the organization I work for, and many others, may be affected by the program and funding cuts. I know of a few local non-profits that are already feeling the strain. This at a time when it seems people need more help than ever, the safety net is being pulled out from under them. I do firmly believe that the only way we will manage is to build community locally. We need to lean on each other. Which is very much what I believe social work to be about.
Best of luck to us all!
