is a myth.
at least the idea that we can have a perfect balance of work, leisure, social, and family time.
I just finished my fifth week of my field practicum. My house is a mess and we have eaten far too much convenience food. however, I feel good about the field practicum. I’m learning and really enjoying it so far, but my house is a mess and I don’t feel I have given enough attention to my kids.
I need a maid. and a cook. and a weekday off to take care of personal business that cannot be done on the weekend.
I keep hoping I will magically adjust to this new schedule and get it all together but no magic has happened. I did do some things to help stay organized, like my spreadsheet. I learned early in my time at university that organization was imperative! I got the idea for the spreadsheet from a moms in college group. It has gone through a few different iterations and I had to add some computations for this semester. My spreadsheet has saved me from failure on more than one occasion. Perhaps another adjustment is needed to add house tasks.
As I move into a new phase of life I will need to find my own balance that includes all my responsibilities and hopefully some time for fun.
